In July 2006, I had a $3,000 windfall that enabled me to begin my trek across the country. This journey has taught me about life, about myself, and about America. It’s allowed me to brighten the days of thousands of people. To pay-forward my good fortune, I’m giving one lucky person a lump sum check. This isn’t a tax write-off. This isn’t a donation, a scholarship or a grant. This is a personal check taken from 100% of the proceeds from my T-shirt sales-- a minimum of $3,000.  If the T-shirt sales don't generate $3,000 (and they probably won't), I will work to earn the remaining prize money.  
           What would you do with $3,000? Would you blow it in one crazy night? Would you pay your sister’s hospital bill? Would you quit your job and start a better life? Would you enroll in college? Would you do something everyone will say is crazy? How would this money better your life? How would it better the lives of those around you? I’ll give you the dollars if you have a dream.

            Send me your plan, telling me why it is worthy of $3,000. Send your entries in any form- written, video, or otherwise. The recipient of this money will be creative, original, optimistic, and determined to make a drastic life change. What I want to know is: who are you? What will you do with this money? And how will it affect the people around you? What I don’t want is: your resume, your GPA, your letters of recommendation, or your excuses for disempowerment. This isn’t charity. I don’t want a sob story. Give me something funny, something to smile about, something inspiring. This money is for empowerment. Life is for spending.

If you have a video, or photos, as part of your entry, upload it to youtube.com or any other site and email me the link along with your name and address.

When?

         Entries must be postmarked or emailed by September 30th 2007. The winner will be announced the final day of November 2007 when his/her entry will be posted on this website. ENTER NOW.
